HORSE MEAT DISCO

16/06/13: Galloping through the doors for the final night of the Official Summer Rites Warm up weekend, we were braying to get our drink on to special guest Honey Djon.

The fabulous New Yorker was strutting through Vauxhall’s arches to spin her stuff and we weren’t going to miss it. Having continued to celebrate talent old and new, cool or not, it was no surprise that the Horse Meat Disco brand had been up in Manchester just the night before.

Having waved the LDN flag for us down Canal Street, it was clearly feeling right back at home at The Eagle. Familiar faces James Hillard and Severino provided the warm-up set and it was nice to see more than one or two regulars braying at the bar.

Horse Meat really is an institution. By the time Ms. Djon was doing her thang, the dancefloor was at her feet. Playing an enormously fun set of classic hits along with her own repoitoire of tracks she’s produced, remixed or had signed to her Digital Disco label.

Nobody can assume this woman of simply pressing on her iPhone. We may have left Horse Meat with more of a lopsided trot than a graceful canter, but if they refuse to rein in the fun, who are we to say no?
