10/07/11: Sunday institution Horse Meat Disco at the Eagle had something kind of special going on last week with the launch of their 3rd album compilation! Drag Superstars Jonny Woo and Le Gateaux Chocolat provided electrifying live performances on the stage, while the diverse friendly and super hot crowd got seriously funky on the dance floor. Providing the music on the night were the residents James Hillard, Jim Stanton, Luke Howard and Severino and very special guest Daniel Wang who was also the author of the sleeve notes for the compilation. The new CD offers an upbeat vs down-tempo collection of real gems hand picked by the Horse Meat DJs. They have had another full on year, not least having played at the Sydney Opera House, Glastonbury Festival, San Francisco Pride and a Berlin Launch of the album literally the night before (they really are rock stars those Horse Meat boys!) The pace doesn’t stop with this weekend seeing the Horsemeat empire moving in on Latitude, the Electric Elephant Festival in Croatia and the one we at QX are most excited about, hosting the NYC Downlow on the Sunday of Lovebox. As if that’s not enough, they will also be putting on a special Lovebox after party at their London home, Eagle, with special guest DJ Optimo.
