02/09/12: In keeping with London gay tradition, pilgrimage was made by men from all over the city in the direction of the great Eastern star – under which lies, um, Shoreditch park.
The last Rites of Summer were chanted by Cazwell et all and the homosexual’s glory season came to an end.
It was with heavy hearts and their come-hither shorts that the boys quickly dissipated into the dark, backwater streets of Hackney – but there was a resounding spring in everybody’s step as soon as it was realized that The Joiners Arms’ back (and front doors) were swinging loose and free for every pleasure seeker to raid with wild abandon – even at this late Sunday hour!
How could we forget the Gay man’s summer is an eternal, undying spring that East London never quite allows to wither away!
So there it was, SPQR (Sexy Parties Queer Revels, but of course!) packed with men of every hue and build. Men in mesh, men in cotton, men who saw no reason for such material comforts at all – teeth gritted, and hips grinding hard to house so filthy and relentless you’d be forgiven for mistaking it all for a Friday night.
As the bass shuddered and soared through the area’s most sacred, weathered watering hole – men bucked, writhed, bantered and knocked ‘em back as if the party season was just dawning on us again, rather than the dreary return to weekday routine that awaited. So in true gay tradition, you can bet they’ll all be back next weekend, doing it bigger and better than ever… we’ll see you there!
