Lady Olé

26/11/16: Bringing with it a hot flush of Hiberic heat, to what is probably one of the wildest nights on the scene at the moment, Lady Olé at The Archway Tavern, is showing London how it’s done, Spanish style.

And with their heady mix of cheesy dance, Los Alejandros knew exactly how to pour olive oil on that particular fire. Drag royalty Pupi Poisson was there to throw a match and lit the place up with an unbridled performance of her hit Puton Verbenero, which sent the crowds into paroxysms.

If the fact that the place is as close as you can get to paradise for a beard lover (even the drag queens, known locally as “cheap sluts” are hirsute) wasn’t enough, the guys there are very welcoming indeed, and rather tactile (our poor photographer almost got his t-shirt ripped-off – not that he was complaining!).

Those looking for an antidote to the Brexit blues could do much worse than heading to this warm little pocket of resistance, where Spanish is the default language. We are still fanning ourselves and seem to have developed a sudden appetite for a bit of chorizo…
