Sunday Social: The DE Experience @ Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Sunday 16th April, 2017
Easter of course has its religious side…but last Easter Sunday, after the scoffing of many Chocolate eggs, there was only one church to go to, to dance off those extra calories. That was the Church of RVT and its Easter Extravaganza with the legend that is The Dame Edna Experience! You always know when the Dame is on – the queue to get in stretches right around Vauxhall Gardens. This Sunday didn’t disappoint, performing to a capacity crowd… with wiggle room only! Jonathan (Dame Edna) was on his usual top form, looking stunning in silver and purple sequins and trademark wig and glasses, performing some of his classics as well and some new material all sandwiched with cutting wit and bags of raucous laughter. It’s a magical place on a Sunday, with Jonathan at the helm, a place full of friendly faces and with super tunes from Simon Le Vans, Sean Sirrs and Liam Chaplin… got me dancing into the very early hours. What a night! Thank you RVT!
