15/12/12: East London continues to be where all the cool kids go, right?
Throw on those jeans from the wash basket, wear a t-shirt inside out and hell, you’re avant-garde from Brick Lane to Dalston. But Wapping? The Cock did its own Santa’s Grotto spin on Studio Space, bringing all the original Cock DJs together under the excuse of festive cheer and mistletoe to wreck the ear drums of E1W.
Princess Julia, Tasty Tim and DJ Rokk were familiar faces in the main room, while the best of the East End’s tranny scene took over Room 2 as Jonny Woo and Jacqui Potato made sure everyone had been very, very bad boys and girls this year.
With swag bags being given out by Bump Girl, Christmas came early to Wapping at the weekend and the larger venue did nothing to diminish the magic. That was left for the rude awakening at 6am when the last stragglers braced the morning chill and the thought of still having to do their Christmas shopping on Oxford Street hit home hard.
Ahhh, Christmas-time at The Cock… where time disappears in a vacuum of tunes, trannies and tinsel. Love!
