London has the world's most diverse late night gay scene. Mainly located around its three gay villages - Soho, Shoreditch and Vauxhall - there's a gay nightclub to suit every taste, with music policies ranging from R&B and pop to full-on funky house via more underground, edgier sounds. There are, of course, many one-off and special events that happen around town to keep a look out for. And if it's something more 'adult' that you're after, then there's a whole heap of men-only and fetish special interest clubs out there, too.
20/02/14: East Bloc have a new night in town on Thursdays, to bring you a party with a difference and some contemporary cabaret-laced razzmatazz. QX dipped our dainty, ladylike toe into Thursgays’ carnivalesque world last week and soon we were diving in head first without a backwards glance.
Super Electric Party Machine
14/02/14: Super Electric Party Machine puckered up for a powerful Valentine’s Day kiss that damn near caved in our foreheads! Larry Tee, AttackAttackAttack and the boys on da bloc hooked hems with some of fashion’s uber–rag stars, deck stars and drag stars to add a soundtrack to London’s Fashion Week that was more smashin’ fashion than catwalk couture.
08/02/14: While we normally reserve our “cheat” days for the post-weekend, there is one treat we can never resist. Normally at a birthday bash you’d expect that to be cake, but everybody know that ain’t how Dish rolls, and we much prefer indulging in a cute club kid any day.
25/01/14: I hit the heights of Saturday night by dropping into the depraved depths of East Bloc for BlocHeads’ new make-over “Macho Sluts”. The cavernous confines of East Bloc’s hellishly hot hole is perfectly suited for a maze of muscle, music and mayhem resurrecting the sexy ol’ Tom of Finland days of Chicago Eagle’s subterranean play pit, NYC’s Spike and Amsterdam’s Argos.
Super Electric Party Machine: Album Launch
1701/14: We fastened our seat belts, folded our trays and prepared for the launch of a lifetime Friday night as East Bloc zoomed into stratospheric heights with the release of Super Electric Party Machine’s self-titled album.
11/01/14: Firstly, we’d like to wish good luck to those partaking in a dry January; we showed our support by raising a glass to their efforts.
28/12/13: After three years in their beloved home of East Bloc, the Guttersluts are packing up their camp(er) van and going on a Thelma and Louise road trip, hopefully with several hot cowboys but without the sticky ending.
Super Electric Party Machine
13/12/13: Party animals Larry Tee and AttackAttackAttack super-charged the ground beneath City Road yet again last Friday and it wasn’t just the hot boys that got the East Bloc basement shacking.
14/12/13: “Girl, you’re gonna catch your death” was the first reaction when we showed off our skimpy outfit for this month’s Dish.
30/11/13: The irreverent Ponystep magazine launched its Christmas call to arms for the style conscious and the crazy-makers on Saturday 30th, and where better than the nightclubbing ‘Oz’ of the city’s East?
TheMenWhoFell2Earth 3rd Birthday
23/11/13: You can throw all the hard-bodied gogos in tiny Aussie Bum undies you like at a podium crowded with mega-pouting transsexuals and a screaming diva on a mic that you like, but to us there are really just three things we want from a decent night out: hot tunes, a cool crowd, and a venue that never fails to deliver.
16/11/13: Last Saturday the QX team took to East London, for not one, but two birthdays.
Mr Dish 2013
09/11/13: So, we got a call from Dish telling us that it was the final of their Mr Dish 2013 competition and we just couldn’t say no.
26/10/13: Oh, how we love it dark and dirty! Mixing it in the maze of East Bloc, Old Street’s underground playground for kids of all ages, we pulled an all-nighter with DJs Per QX, Tom Stephan and Lady B alongside resident deckhands Nic Fisher, Ralf O and Miss CrystalMC.
19/10/13: Horny and in need of a shack out on a Saturday night? There couldn’t have been a better time for Handsome to drop itself in on East Bloc.
12/10/13: After a taxing taxi ride across London (let’s just say we were no Carrie Bradshaw at hailing a cab), we arrived at our favourite meal of the month; and we’re not talking about the whipped cream we licked off that Grindr meet.
SUPER ELECTRIC PARTY MACHINE
27/09/13: The original New York club kid Larry Tee has the midas touch when it comes to putting on a party, so combine that with our fave East End haunt, East Bloc, and you have the recipe for a dynamite night - and that is exactly what the weekly Friday night Super Electric Party Machine is.
28/09/13: Summer tour over with Gutterslut coming back home to East Bloc with barely enough time to take off their wellies after slamming Bestival.
21/09/13: After we attended a hot (and we mean that in both senses of the word) Lovebox after-party earlier in the year, there was no way we were gonna miss another night of heavy beats and Handsome boys.
14/09/134: It was the first Dish since the sun went into hibernation and we couldn’t think of a better way to warm up our loins than heading over to East for a sweaty skank out.
