JOINERS ARMS 15TH BIRTHDAY

05/05/12: On the 6th May 1997, a little pub on the Hackney Road opened its doors with the hope of becoming a joyful sinner. A place that promotes life, love, liberty and above all, fun, dirty fun!

If the sweat-soaked walls could talk (thank God they can’t), they’d say this motive has been well and truly delivered. Our favorite pub has been through it all, surpassing Blair and Brown’s rein it’s seen the manic, post-Trade parties to its recent incarnation as eclectic hotspot for rampant party animals and ice-cool fashionistas.

One thing has always remained the same: It’s a bloody good night out and our sex lives wouldn’t have been the same without it! So last Sunday, gays, girls and a lot of boys in togas flocked beneath the neon lights to party and celebrate 15 years of The Joiners Arms.

Legendary DJ Jo Purvis chucked out the tunes and Londoners from East and beyond kicked the evening off with the UK film premier of ‘The Sisters’. With no work on Monday (not that it ever makes the slightest difference), we drank and we danced until our togas fell off into the early hours of the morning with Julian De Apostate, who always plays the dirtiest electro grooves and blends them with some 90s classics, a cheeky nod to the humble beginnings of the Hackney haunt.

We salute you Joiners Arms, for always making today ‘the good old days’. Here’s to fifteen more years!
