PopHorror’s Top 10 horror movie characters …. (and their favourite pop songs)

Musical horror night PopHorror kicks off this week on Wednesday 27th, with a terrifyingly mad tribute Stock, Aitken & Waterman & the SAW movies. It’s hilariously twisted idea, so to get you in the mood, we asked mad redneck murderer, Pop Horror himself, to run us through his favourite slasher sluts and their fave pop hits.

10  Marty Rantzen (Slaughter High) Fun for Me by Moloko – Years ago his cruel classmates disfigured him in a practical joke, now he’s invited them for a school reunion, it’s finally his time to have fun.

9      Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street) “Hold my Hand” by Jess Glynne – He really wants you to hold his hand – those razor blade gloves won’t hurt at all, honest.

8      Sadako (Ringu) “Reach” by S Club 7 – reminds her of all those long weeks desperately trying to climb out of the well she had been hurled down into.

7      Carrie (Carrie)– “If You Could Read my Mind” by Stars on 54 – if you could read her mind you’d find a raging vortex of repression and confusion, before she flung you across the dance floor with the bat of an eyelid.

6      Regan (The Exorcist) “Better The Devil You Know” by Kylie – hey, when you’ve spent several weeks with one demon living inside your body, why do you want to waste the time getting to know another one?

5      Michael Myers (Halloween) – “Bulletproof” by La Roux. He’s pretty much everything-proof – he’s been flung out of buildings, stabbed, incinerated, stabbed and run over – but always comes back for more.

4      Tiffany (Bride of Chucky) – “Like a Virgin” by Madonna – So maybe she has already been touched for the very first time, but she’s still going to wear white on her wedding day (with a black leather jacket, of course)

3      Candyman (Candyman) “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child – go on, say it, that’s it, great, and again… and again… and again … and just one more time…

2      Laurie Strode (Halloween) – “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor – of course she will survive – she’s Jamie Lee frickin’ Curtis! The laws of horror movies state she must always be the last girl standing.

1      Mary Lou Maloney (Prom Night II: Hello Mary Lou) “Look at Me” by Geri Halliwell – She’s a vengeful mega bitch who’s returned from hell to claim her Prom Queen crown so you better look at her goddamit!

PopHorror: S.A.W meets SAW is this Wednesday 27th April at the Vauxhall Tavern (372 Kennington Lane SE11 5HY), 7pm-12am. £5.
