The Walthamstow community centre helping local LGBT people

ELOP stands for the East London Out Project and is a charity based in Walthamstow, North-East London, where they have an LGBT community centre. It was set up in 1995 as a grassroots-developed organisation in order to promote the mental health, wellbeing, empowerment and equality of LGBT Londoners.

The group tries to achieve this through a holistic approach, offering a wide range of services and resources. They can provide information on everything from sexual and mental health to young people’s services, as well as offering counselling and community activities. Currently, they run a Mindfulness group on Thursdays from 6.30pm-8pm, which everyone is free to attend. They have previously organised choirs, trans* meet-ups, and poetry evenings.

• If you are interested in getting involved with the work they carry out, please visit elop.org, or drop into Mellow Yellow, their community café, at 56-60 Grove Road, London, E17 9BN.
