New survey from the US finds that LGBTQ people are less well-off financially, being more likely to be in their overdraft, but more worryingly are likely to earn less. Take THAT you people that think that us queers are high achievers.

In findings released by OverdraftApps.com who surveyed 1,000 people all over the United States, some worrying statistics emerged. Eleven per cent of those questioned were LGBTQ which is an accurate reflection on the US at large.

In the survey, participants were asked how often they found themselves dipping into their overdrafts in the past year. They were given the choice of answering ‘Never’, ‘once or twice’, ‘three to nine times’ or ‘over ten times’. Here’s what they found:

54% of non-LGBTQ people said they ‘never’ went into their overdraft compared to 47% of LGBTQ people. This means that us queers are way more likely to dip into that money we didn’t have.

18% of LGBTQ people went into their overdraft ‘three to nine’ times over the past year, compared to the 12% of non-LGBTQ people who gave the same answer. Oh dear.

Then they were asked about their income, the numbers seemed to be similar between the groups when it came to earning between $25,000 and $50,000. Where they differed was when it came to lower-income 25% of LGBTQ people said they earned less than $25,000 compared to 14% overall. When it came to making the big bucks, earning more than $50,000 32% of people overall said that they did, compared to the 25% of LGBTQ people

The study also looked into their opinions on Trump’s administration and the likelihood that they believed he would lower bank rates. 90% of the LGBTQ people didn’t believe he’d be doing anything to these fees, compared to 75% of non-LGBTQ people, proving once again that us queers are really not here for Trump. BIG surprise.
