HOW TO BEAT THOSE JANUARY BLUES
January can make even the most energetic of us feel down in the dumps. The first month of a new year can be a struggle as we fall into a festive fun-down. Cold, dreary weather, lack of sleep and too much food and drink leave us feeling sluggish and overweight. If you’re fighting off the January blues, we have the perfect medicine. Treat yourself to a weekend of rest and recuperation at one of the country’s top spas!
St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club
The striking natural beauty of South Wales is yours to experience at the St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club. Housed within a historic 14th century manor home in Chepstow, St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club is surrounded by 400 acres of parkland in the beautiful Wye Valley. Just a short drive out of London; you can stretch out in the hotel’s immaculately designed rooms or fork out a little extra for one of their lakeside suites for breathtaking country views (still reasonably priced and well worth doing!).
Aside from the breathtaking views and pleasant rooms, the hotel houses a heated indoor pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and a fully equipped gym, as well as a tranquil on-site spa. The Beauty Rooms feature a wide range of soothing spa services, guaranteed to relax you. Feel the tension float away with a soothing massage of choice or expert facial. We opted to indulge in the 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage complete with fancy products (Elemis don’t ya know dear!) which most certainly helped us feel revived and rejuvenated.
When you’re done with all that indulgence you can explore the local villages surrounding the hotel on a pre-mapped hike (available from reception) which will see you take in historic views such as the resting place of King Tewdrig who was mortally wounded after a battle with an intruding Saxon force (a little bit of history for you there!).
So, if you’re looking for something a little bit earthy, cultured and yet extremely relaxing then the St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club is the place for you. Well worth the journey out of London’s hustle and bustle for a weekend of “me, myself and I” time.
