Queer Open Mic recently moved from its Camden venue to Kennington’s Cock Tavern. Working with the new venue, Open Mic look forward to offering everyone a fun and welcoming experience.
Josh Leuner is a queer musician. He was motivated to find a supportive and friendly event where he could perform. He was surprised that there wasn’t a regular event that catered specifically to this. Being on stage can be nerve-wracking, especially for queer artists, so Josh felt there was a real need to create a safe and inclusive environment for us to share our talents.
Sean O’Callaghan told QX that partnering with the Cock Tavern was a “dream come true”.
In addition to new performers each month, they feature regular musicians such as Blake Rave, Skye Wild, and Siôn Owen, as well as drag artist Queer As An Aro, poet Emmanuel Carriere, and many others!
Music, comedy, poetry, and spoken word performers are all welcome. Slots often get booked up in advance, so contact the organisers ahead of time if you want to perform.
Queer Open Mic is on Sunday 25th August and Sunday 29th September from 5.30 pm – 8.30 pm at The Cock Tavern, 340 Kennington Road, London SE11 4LD, United Kingdom.
