G-A-Y – THE LAWSON TAKE-OVER

21/07/12: While most acts at G-A-Y rock-up, do a 1.30am show then jump in their AddLee back to the hotel, in keeping with the title of their new single ‘Taking Over Me’, Lawson showed much more commitment last Saturday!

It began innocently enough when the four lads strolled up to the front door (their car was stuck in traffic so they just got out and walked!), donned hi-viz jackets and joined the door security team to frisk the customers.

It was all going well until the crowds started forming a queue for their favourite Lawson lad, at which point the door ground to a halt so they were whisked off to reception.

After a brief stint confusing wristbands with flyers and generally letting anyone in, it was off to the DP Lounge where it was jäger bombs and bottles of beer to get them warmed up for their 12.30am DJ slot on the main floor.

Phew, we were exhausted just chasing them ‘round the club, but when it came to their show at 1.30am they had plenty of energy left for their live guitar and drum antics and wowed the crowd with their new track, Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’, Maroon 5’s ‘Moves like Jagger’ and more, despite technical difficulties and one band member having to leave the stage to be sick – how Rock ‘n’ Roll! What a talented, and boisterous bunch!
