05/05/12: Having become somewhat of a force to be reckoned with on the scene, and rapidly picking up momentum with each hugely successful themed event – it was only a matter of time before XXL would outgrow its own incredible success, and welcome in a new era of epic proportions.
And what better venue than Pulse to expand on and house XXL’s rebirth – the enormous, expansive arches creating an unforgettable backdrop to the distinct sounds XXL has become so renowned for.
It’s hardly surprising that the crowd must have easily comprised one of the most surprising, eclectic groups of clubbers in the capital. The huge arena, rammed wall to wall with bears, cubs, otters, twinks and every type in-between – meant that, as in true XXL style, the crowd was what made the night the truly unforgettable experience that it was.
The legendary maze – well, cruise area – pulled in the curious, the horny as well as the lost and bewildered. Surrounded by gorgeous men, young and old – seasoned clubbers as well as fresh meat – it was easy to see the reasons for XXL’s growing success all around the venue; it really does offer it all, and to absolutely anyone who wants it; everyone is welcome, which really, is quite rare on the gay scene.
Busier, bigger, and undoubtedly better than ever before, last Saturday’s XXL ‘Cop Night’ was a legendary experience if ever there was one. Next week? We’re there, without a doubt!
