FIRE CLUB ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY CLOSURE

One of London’s leading predominantly gay nightclubs has announced a temporary closure from Monday 31st October-Thursday 15th December 2011. The news came in as QX was going to press on this issue, however Director of Promotions for Orange Group, JONNY MARSH, sent the following statement exclusive to QX…

“The Fire complex, in the heart of London’s Vauxhall, incorporates the well-known Lightbox venue, and is an internationally recognised symbol of London’s buzzing gay nightlife. As a result of a licensing hearing in which the club retained its license, Fire will close for six weeks taking advantage of the time to complete refurbishment works, install new production and lighting rigs, and review processes in place to cater for the expanding business. We know that the London club scene will miss the venue so we’re throwing a massive afterhours party on Sunday morning 30th October, as Beyond & Trade team up to present ‘Ultimate’, see www.fireclub.co.uk for more info.

“The club has been running for nine years now, helping a transformation in the local area to become one of London’s most popular gay villages, with a slew of bars, clubs and leisure business popping up around the Vauxhall Cross area. In this time Fire has hosted some of the biggest international brands in the world, as well as touring extensively through Europe and further afield.

“Fire contributes massively to Vauxhall’s successful nighttime economy, as one of the largest employers in the area. The last event to take place at Fire before the closure will be Orange on Sunday 30th October, with a major send off party on Sunday morning 30th October, as Trade & Beyond present ‘Ultimate’. Fire will re-open on the weekend starting 15th December, with a huge re-opening spectacular in the pipeline. So keep an eye on our Facebook page for more info.

“All events scheduled to take place in this time at Fire will be re-located to alternative venues, see QX next week for full details and also see our website www.fireclub.co.uk and Facebook page www.facebook.com/firelondon to stay up to date with all the latest news.”

See QX next week for further news relating to Fire’s temporary closure and details of the relocation of its regular events.
