BRIDGE

11/05/13: Between Kazbar’s summer street party, Soho Gyms’ six packs and the Common’s shirtless sun worshippers, it’s fair to say Clapham is one of London’s gayest hot spots.

Therefore, the arrival of a new gay bar is well overdue. The Bridge has set up home under the arches at Clapham North, moments from the High Street train station making it perfect for commuters on the pull and gays on the go.

Clapham may have developed a Yummy Mummy contingent over the last few years, but The Bridge was pretty much a men-only affair for boys into Girls Aloud on Saturday night. Up-and-comer DJ Fabio Luigi provided the music and, cosy it may have been within the brickwork, but with the weather taking a turn for the worst it served as the perfect excuse to muscle up against the good-looking boys at the bar. Those who needed a breather or who couldn’t find a spot on one of the Chesterfields had the new outdoor terrace (and umbrellas) to shelter under.

With summer surely to arrive any time soon, we have no doubt that The Bridge will become one of Clapham’s meccas for when the sun goes down, the bodies are bronzed and thirsty for more than a bottle of Evian. The promise of a new cocktail menu has only served to whet our appetites…
