Robot Rock

This is one of those insane amalgamations that manifests when all the right things happen at the right time, all the right people connect with each other, all the right emails get opened, and something speakers-bustingly, brain-shaggingly amazing is created!

Those of you in the know, will have heard of club promoter Kevin Clash. He’s got more ideas than Banksy on acid, and his conceptual clubbing culture has headed to the far reaches of the galaxy (or at least, the far reaches of Zone 2). He’s worked with East London stalwarts Vogue Fabrics and East Bloc, bringing Robot Rock, a mixed sexuality indie dance club, to discerning Dalstonites and homolicious Hoxton whores.

Now, he’s hit the motherload! Taboo, one quarter of The Black Eyed Peas, one of the biggest groups to ever EXIST, is DJing at the next Robot Rock night! We’re not sure how, or why, but we’re on board! Partly because Fergie might turn up, and we love Fergie! She’s like a very tall and very glamorous cat. There’s something urgent and feline in those eyes. Anyway.

He’s also drafted in a host of other hedonistic talent. There’s Shit Robot, which a great DJ name, especially for a night called Robot Rock. Then there’s Tommy Turntables of Popstarz fame! Remember Popstarz?! At The Den?! Amazing! It was one of the best gay nights in London! It’s a Topshop now. They’ve also got Lazer Minelli! Hilarious! We’ve never had the privilege of meeting Lazer Minelli before, but we’re looking forward to it. AND, as if all that weren’t enough, Ed Banger Records’ royalty, Mr Oizo! He’s ace, he done loads of producing for Uffie, who we love. Mostly because she’s French and a bitch.

He’s got loads more lined up too, including DJ star Colin Peters. Who knows what will happen?! You might get invited to a party back in Taboo’s flat, or boat, or wherever he lives. He probably owns the Shard or something. Who knows. But you can be DAMN SURE it’ll be ten times better than whatever you had planned before. What was it? A bowl of pesto pasta and The Day After Tomorrow on DVD? Cute.

• Robot Rock is on Sunday 2nd October. The venue is still top secret, look out for more details in next week’s issue.
