What are your obsessions? I always get obsessed with stuff. It could be a song, an artist, a club night or happening, anything that appeals to my mood and engages me.
Our weekend begins with a visit to White Cubicle presents artist Frances Drayson on Thursday 10th May at The Queen Adelaide. Entitled ‘Merry Widows’ this small but perfectly formed exhibition curated by Alex Padfield turns into an event from 9:30pm till 3am with DJ sets from DJ Loquet, T.E.E.T. and X88B88. All very arty I must say!
Up at Homostash, they’re going all vogue dance themed! It’s a Voguing edition, with DJ headliner Mario Cantos (Bcn). It’s on Friday 11th at Dalston Superstore, with resident DJs Tafkanik and Pavliné as well as guests Attack Attack Attack and Aamyko Iddiols. Plus bar dancing from Lulu Love and Kevin Jack! Plus Hawt Zine launch their 2nd issue so pick one up!
Carry on at DSS with Maybe Baby Eurovision Screening Party on Saturday 12th from 7pm with ShayShay & Just May hosting a basement ‘euro-dome’ extravaganza. Lots going on, with Eurovision themed drag shows and games. Then get ready for the BUM.P Eurovision After Party straight after on Saturday 12th at Dalston Superstore! I’ll be joining Jacqui Potato and Max Allen for a DJ sesh upstairs in the bar till 4am!
Blimey all this Eurovision!!!! Haha, love it or hate it there’s no escaping it because The Glory put on one of the best annual Eurovision Screening Party’s… so on Saturday 12th join Jonny Woo & Ma Butcher who take over both floors with the actual screening from 7.30pm. Then expect Ma Butcher and trusty assistant Sue Ellen Ryan to cater to your every Eurovision need, shows from Jewlia Falkoner and The Nightbus and more DJ sets from Jacqui Potato and Doug Faulkner till 3am!
Staying at The Glory, catch Barbra & I: One Woman’s Obsession on Tuesday 15th, with superstar Grace Shush. She’s paying tribute to a Streisand obsession, with a showcase of faves from her, Margo Marshall and Frieda Slaves. 8pm till 10pm with amusing renditions and routines!
I’m back for another evening of Carry on Quizzing on Tuesday 15th upstairs at The Retro Bar. I’ll be taking over as quiz mistress this week! From 8pm, join me and my assistant Heidi Heelz as we roll out an evening of fabularity in the form of questions and quirky sections where you could win a grand prize!
David Hoyle presents a brand new night David Hoyle’s Gymnasium starting the last Thursday of May on the 31st and then continues in June 28th & July 26th at The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. As always David Hoyle will be tackling themes in articulate fashion and working a look with special guests and star turns!
