Riot Act has had successful West End runs and a U.K. tour. Written and performed by powerhouse creative Alexis Gregory, the show returns to the West End for one performance on World AIDS Day, 1 December, at 21 Soho. The show is presented by the Mulwade Foundation.

“Our mission is to create lasting, positive change by assisting and empowering individuals living with HIV.”

This production brings an outrageous hilarity to match its hard-hitting poignancy, exploring six decades of LGBTQ+ history by bringing to life the stories from three members of the LGBTQ+ rights movement: Michael-Anthony Nozzi, a survivor of the Stonewall riots; Lavinia Co-op, an alternative ’70s drag artist; and Paul Burston, a ’90s AIDS activist.

QX Riot Act Review

“A theatre piece of this nature is a true test of an actor’s mettle – three eccentric characters, in the space of an hour, talking heatedly about sensitive issues. Alexis pulls it off with a rare mixture of confidence and respect; brash as Michael, aloof as Lavinia, and thoughtful as Paul. It’s an important lesson in the art of theatre – less is more. It’s the tiny, subtle things, the little idiosyncrasies that are the most important.” Read the review.

Riot Act is a celebration of queer activism across the decades, pulling no punches, hilarious, moving and inspiring.

The Mulwade Foundation told QX, “This intimate performance aligns perfectly with Mulwade Foundation’s mission by: Supporting the LGBTQ+ community by honouring its heroes and the ongoing fight for equality. Guiding attendees towards a deeper understanding of LGBTQ+ history and its impact on the present. Educating audiences about pivotal moments, influential figures, and the ongoing need for support and activism.”

Leave inspired and empowered!

Riot Act is on 1 December 2024, 7:30 pm, at 21 Soho, 3-5 Sutton Row, London W1D 4NR, United Kingdom.
