BLACK CAP

14/07/12: If awards were handed out for being a show stopping, booty-popping glamour queen, it would be easy to say that Laquisha Jonz could win the gold medal blindfolded.

As long as that blindfold is coated in diamantes of course! Laquisha brings a slice of the USA to every gig with her larger than life personality and candid anecdotes. She exploded onto the Black Cap cabaret stage last Saturday with a rendition of ‘Diamonds Are Forever’, a fitting song for the ghetto-chic diva who just couldn’t resist a flirt with the front row.

Dressed head to toe in leopard print, the American glamour-puss could certainly give Scary Spice a run for her money. All fired up, there was no stopping her from turning Camden’s favourite gay bar into an extravaganza of all things camp and fabulous.

Songs included ‘Billionaire’ by Bruno Marr’s and a daring mash-up of Annie Lennox’s ‘Sweet Dreams’ with Pink’s ‘Get the Party Started’. Every queen in the house went wild and talking of queen, Laquisha concluded the show superbly with ‘Somebody to Love’ and not without backing vocals from us, of course. Keep swinging that glittery bag of yours Laquisha!

On to the Black Cap itself, and the night was rammed! Packed full of up-for-it fags, tiddly but fun-loving hags and a good smattering of skinny-jeaned and bearded Camden lovelies out for the craic. What a fantastic evening!
