Village 512 is a local queer bar and club, and Carpe Nortem Presents are having an Open Decks night on Sunday, 15 October. Entry is free. It’s a shout-out to all budding DJs who want to get out of the bedroom and into a club. So take your USB down to Village 512, bring some mates, and show them what you can do.
This is a queer space, and the organisers want to encourage queer DJs and their allies to come and play music in an open, supportive environment whilst having the opportunity to play on an extensive fat sound system and state-of-the-art CDJs.
DJs of all levels are welcome, and advice will be at hand to give tips on things like transitions, set building, effects, etc., to help you become a better DJ.
For keen and ready people, there may be the opportunity to play on other nights in the area, too, so it’s worth going along and showing them what you’re made of.
A sign-up sheet will be available on the night for anyone who wants to play a set, and slots will be 30 minutes long.
This is your chance to meet, mingle and play with other DJs in a supportive bar/club environment in the heart of queer Dalston.
Everyone who plays will also receive a recording of their set after the event for their listening pleasure.
