Wig Party is back and bigger than ever.
The organisers promise that you’re going to need some extra strong hairspray this time around, so we caught up with head honcho WIGGY WOO to tell us more about this year’s sensational event – themed ‘GODS & MONSTERS’ – and the changes they’ve made since last year’s extravaganza…
What is the Wig Party?
This is the charity event Where Inspiration Gathers; and ‘godlike’ creatures are in for a ‘monstrous’ evening. From its humble beginnings some years ago, the Wig Party has become a must-see charity event in the London calendar. Wig Party is a 100% voluntary organization. Everybody donates their time, energy and talent for free to create a spectacular night full of outrageous creativity and club mayhem, supported, of course, by clubbers from all aspects of London’s nightlife. From The Hoist to Hoxton, the atmosphere is sexy, liberating and electric.
The biggest change is the new venue!
This year we give you the ultimate night out – get ready to rock Londinium Town as Wiggy is taking you to the darkside by welcoming you to Mayfair! This epic historical building with its enormous stained glass windows and luxurious VIP balconies, champagne bar and the infamous pageant catwalk takes the party to a new high. This is the glamour and spectacle that you deserve my darling Wigsters! We are also moving to Saturday night, after all those complaints from your bosses on Monday, we have decided to get the party started a day earlier! From 6pm the drums will be beating out their rhythm calling you up the stone steps into the ‘Temple of Joy’.
And the theme is Gods & Monsters. Along what lines should people be thinking?
At our website you will find a list of approved wig makers and wig suppliers, make-up artists and lists of famous Gods and Monsters to get you inspired. As always my advice is wear very little – W.I.G. is a hot, sexy affair so keep the clothing to a minimum. If you’re feeling angelic, then bring out those white Speedos, a halo of hair and make a sinner of yourself. It’s all about being different, find the edge and get cutting!
What entertainment can we expect?
At W.I.G. HQ we always say you are the entertainment! You are the true stars of the evening and continue to inspire! Of course we have always been able to surprise you in the past with Dannii Minogue, Leona Lewis and Sugababes making an appearance… Let the rumour mill begin! Maybe a monster-loving diva or two may be joining you?
And the afterparty?
Now I know you gods of the dance floor have scarcely begun to feel the groove by midnight on a Saturday and so the party goes on! Look out in next week’s issue when we announce the official W.I.G Afterparty. It’s all about the music as we aim to slam you into Sunday with some seriously deep ’n’ funky house music that’s gonna rip open the heavens and have you begging for forgiveness. God is a DJ.
