South London is getting sexy again now that NXCC takes over the Steamworks Sauna every Friday. To find out more about the scintillation and titillation for your senses, we spoke to maverick maestro behind the cruising and man of the Backstreet, Mr Alan Roberts.
How did you get involved with NXCC?
I was looking for a venue to host Buff on the first Sunday of the month. As you know we are not open on the first Sunday of the month over at The Backstreet so now everyone who likes it naked can come to the new venue.
Not only that, but we are hosting an all night party every Friday night from 9pm.
That way, if you can’t make any of the meetings at The Backstreet or the Sunday you’ll be able to come here! The other reason is that if you are on the door we see all these horny men come and go and we end up with having nothing except feeling horny!
So I went on a visit (I rarely go to other clubs except my own) to Steamworks/NXCC for play and ended up doing a club night. Steve Mayhew who owns the venue is very pro active with us and we said we would give it a go.
A good thing with the venue, it’s a new place to go for naked or, in the case of the Friday nights, underwear, shorts or jocks nights.
What can people expect at NXCC?
It’s a great venue based on two floors. Although they do not sell alcohol you can bring your booze in and they’ll keep it in the fridge!
There is a refreshments bar, TV lounge with some very comfy sofas, lockers, a small smoking terrace with great views of The City.
In the basement there is a darkroom, porn video lounge, bonk beds, sling arch, small private areas, plus there are showers so you can freshen up… There is also a sauna and steam room that will be on during certain times of the event!
All the staff are friendly and it’s a non attitude place. We are hoping that the regulars from Buff Backstreet will come over but we’ll welcome anyone. Buff is famous for its mix of men of all ages and we are building upon this.
And Buff nights are still running as normal at Backstreet?
Absolutely as normal. Nothing changing at all. We’ll be busy with John working on the smokers’ terrace to make it bigger, better and to add more features but the weather has delayed work on that!
We have got some extra heating in the main room now, and many customers have been toasting themselves on the “Jet Engine” heater! We will be offering discounts between Buff and Buff South Side so keep an eye on those at the venues. Likewise Steve’s venue is open as normal when we are not there!
