THE SEVEN DAYS OF KU

Ku Bar is known all over gay London as one of the swanky, stylish bars where the boys are hot to trot, and where everyone on the scene wants to be seen.

Since its inauguration by the most esteemed Mr Gary Henshaw in 1995 at the historic Charing Cross Road bar, the main branch moved to the stunning Lisle Street flagship venue on Valentine’s Day 2007.

In addition to its main floor bar, recently given an immaculate facelift, Ku Lisle Street boasts both an elegant Champagne Bar upstairs and a pop-perfect basement boudoir club that packs in the sexiest of Soho seven days a week.

Baby brother venue Ku Bar Frith Street, situated in the heart of Soho, was opened in 2008 where the bar boys are still as sexy, the intimate candlelit upper floor overlooking the corner of Old Compton Street is the perfect place to take a date and the laser-filled basement bar sees dancing, DJs and flirting a-plenty.

Lesbian venue Candy Bar was added to the unstoppable Ku party in 2011, making Ku officially a major gay scene chain brand, and now offers its own hot boys-orientated night on Tuesdays, named Fresh, a student night run by students (although you can still get in even if it’s been a while since you held an NUS card!)

Here’s what’s on over at the Ku Klub in a day by day guide:

• MONDAYS: DJ ALVARO & KEROL
After you’ve picked yourself up from the floor from swooning to Spanish DJ Alvaro’s gorgeous blonde looks and sexy smile, you’ll get whisked into a frenzy by brilliant Brazilian DJ Kerol’s bubbly laughter and infectious beats. Together they make a pretty unbeatable pair and they work to get your Mondays back on track after that first day back to work syndrome…

• TUESDAYS: KU BAR & FRESH
Tuesdays in the main bar at Ku Bar Lisle Street are where you’ll find the majority of the best Soho punters and carefree twinks packing in their early mid-week drinks, and why not, when there are drinks deals from Sunday – Thursday such as any flavoured vodka and mixer for £2.20.

On Tuesday nights Ku Klub is overtaken by the girls, but if you want to continue partying till the early hours then lesbian venue Candy Bar, just off Soho Square, throws open its doors to the boys for one night only till 3am with new night Fresh, officially focused on students but open to anyone with a youthful spirit for fun and joie-de-vivre!

• WEDNESDAYS: VICKI VIVACIOUS
Vicki Vivacious is six foot three inches (in her glittering magenta heels) of unadulterated glamour, the drag queen with all the style, sophistication and sheer sex of Soho wrapped up into her elegant veneer.

Ku Klub makes the perfect venue each Wednesday night to be transformed into her personal basement boudoir, where she assembles the fashionistas and beauties of London on her dance floor of pleasure. Here you can expect to hear all your favourite all-time floor fillers and remixes.

• THURSDAYS: DJ TASTY TIM & DJ SHARIF
Scene legend Tasty Tim is known all over the gay world of London as one of the most recognizable faces and music maestros to make your night sizzling. DJ Sharif is the hunk packing the junk, a ripped and buff muscle man, holding a non-stop magic box of tricks in the form of amazing contemporary records and pop perfection.

Combine these two flavours together and we get a pre-weekend atmosphere ready to challenge any club in Soho, with these slick DJs spinning you all the way onto the dance floor…

• FRIDAYS: DJ ALVARO & DOUG
Back by popular demand DJ Alvaro is banging those decks with all the best tunes on Friday night, and joined by equally as sexy DJ Doug, hailing all the way from Brazil.

Together these chiselled boys, one blonde and one dark (fulfilling all your porno fantasies!), have Fridays at Ku Klub pumping with an unstoppable atmosphere all the way until the lights come up. £5 entry after 11pm includes a free drink…

• SATURDAYS: DJ DOUG & DJ THANOS
Ku Bar even runs its own DJ Quest competition each summer, and two of the previous winners now run their own Saturday night in the Ku Klub together, where it’s all about the music and the mixing – and the cuties! DJ Doug and DJ Thanos combine their vast knowledge of music to weave an upbeat, happy pop fabric that gets everyone in the club jumpin’ jumpin’.

Hear why they were both crowned DJ Quest winners for yourself, and if you get down before 11pm it’s free entry too.

• SUNDAYS: DJ LADY LLOYD
Lady Lloyd has been the undisputed Princess of Soho for many years now and you can see why on her Sunday hit factories down in the Ku Klub.

Due to licensing there’s a slightly earlier closing time than usual (of 12am) but Lloyd kicks off at 9pm and rounds your weekends off with a bang, paving the paths of all the lucky party-goers who don’t have to stop on Mondays for work…Every Bank Holiday don’t forget Lady Lloyd is on till 3am too!
