Buff Touches Down At Bloc South

Cheeky fetish night Buff has just found a new home at South London hive of hedonism, Bloc South!
We spoke to head honcho Alan Roberts to get all lowdown.

Hey Alan! So for those who don’t know, tell us what Buff is all about.

Buff is one of the longest running naked and underwear clubs in London. We’re a very laid back club, where blokes of all ages can chill out in their birthday suits!  We’ve been running for nearly fourteen years now, across various venues throughout the capital.

What do you think of the fetish scene in general in London at the moment?

London has suffered a bit recently. This is due to clubs closing at the hands of gentrification, or the building of new horrible rabbit hutches. What people don’t realize is that when a club goes, it’s gone for good. And to be honest there isn’t much of scene at the moment, other than what Suzie Krueger does, or when we run specialist events like Skinheads & Squaddies or London Jack-Off Club. But I think there is a resurgence with new clubs coming along in the not too distant future.

What made you decide to do a night like Buff?

There was no other night at the time where you could come along and let it all hang out and chill at the bar. We get all sorts from disco bunnies to gym boys and there are some who are bigger! But hey, no-one cares!

Are you excited about the move to Bloc South?

We’re not moving the entire Buff brand. Buff is still at its home at The Backstreet, the new nights are just an addition to what we already do. We get asked all the time if Buff can open on the first Saturday and the Thursday, so I thought we would give it a try.

What changes can we expect?

Bloc South is different to The Backstreet. It’s on two floors for a start, and we have a smokers’ terrace as well. It’s going to be same atmosphere as the original Buff but hopefully we’ll get some horny south London guys in! For those of you who have not been to Bloc South, it’s very industrial and it’s perfect for cruising about.

What are you aiming for with the future of Buff?

We intend to stay at The Backstreet for as long as possible. There are all the gay rumours of it being demolished but this has not happened yet. The Backstreet is its natural home and John & Mark have battled to keep the club there for the foreseeable future.

Buff @ The Bloc is every first Saturday of the month and every Thursday at Bloc South, 65 Goding Street, SE11 7TP. 4pm – 9pm Saturdays, 7pm – midnight Thursdays. £10 non-members, £9 members.
