KU BAR

16/02/13: The gay scene has seen a lot happen in the last six years: bars have come and gone, twinks have become cubs, and Ku Bar has made itself at home in Lisle Street as it reaches another birthday.

It’s hard to imagine Ku Bar not being around. When it opened its doors in 2007, shirtless barmen at the ready, Lady Gaga hadn’t even released a single yet and Sex & the City was still a TV show, not a film.

Cut to the present though and Ku Bar is now all grown up on it’s sixth birthday – and the hot barmen are thankfully over the age of consent. The champagne had been flowing since it’s official birthday on Valentine’s Day, but it had lost none of its fizz on Saturday night. Indeed, everyone was in a bubbly mood and romance was still in the air for some, it seemed.

Resident DJs DJ Doug and DJ Thanos played the tunes and their handsome mugs certainly weren’t out of place amongst a busy crowd of talent thanking god for the weekend. As biceps pulled pints behind the bar and partygoers drooled over them between sips, there was no certainly no fear of Ku Bar going anywhere.

Happy birthday, Ku Bar! We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in 2013.
