A Touch Of Frost

After the barnstorming success that was Summer Rites earlier this year, Out on the Dock returns with Frost Festival, the winter’s biggest gay club event.

Frost Festival will be taking over the basement vaults of the Tobacco Docks complex and featuring nine rooms of sounds, delivering some of the scene’s biggest club brands of today, such as Dish and Handsome in the East Bloc room, and Misfits and Bootylicious in the RnB Arena.

Plus, Frost Festival brings back some of the more loved events of London’s clubbing history. Trade – the original afterhours monster that conquered the world – is fresh back from its recent 24th birthday to host its own club space. Across the terrace from Trade will be the original Vauxhall underground club beast that was Crash.

Flying the alternative flag will the boys and gurls from Ghetto, reviving such classic clubs as Wig Out and Don’t Call Me Babe. Keeping the fuzzy boys happy, the Bear Pit lets the bears go wild.

That’s not even mentioning the Cabaret, Glam Jam and Girls Arenas! Check out the map for a full guide to what’s on, and get your tickets now.

JOHN SIZZLE

Host & DJ, Cabaret room

A Man To Pet and I will be bringing our usual Grizzle! cabaret and DJ shenanigans to this event. We will start off demure and quickly descend into sequinned chaos as the night progresses. Expect legs, nudity, incomprehensible cabaret action, sensual innuendo and loads and loads of capes.

The Summer Rites festival held here speaks for itself. It’s quite the fabulous venue with so much going on you don’t want to miss anything. The cabaret room is the place to meet future partners, compare chlamydia experiences, take in a show and marvel at A Man To Pet’s camel toe(s). I’ll be spinning a vital selection of pop, rock, dance and delicious disco. It’ll be a cross-dressing hoot.

It’s also the preview of my new dance troupe Sizzle’s Sisters. We’re a bunch of uncoordinated nutbags who murder many a pop classic. Look out for a thrilling five-way Britney extravaganza and something bonkers by the Osmonds! Each member brings something special to the stage… Usually chlamydia.

ANDREW MOORE

DJ, Crash room

As one of the residents at Blocheads I was asked to join the Frost Festival lineup. It’s an interesting, unique venue to party in with different rooms to explore, walk around, socialise, dance and go wild. I’m looking forward to playing in the Crash room and dropping some great new tracks in my set and then joining the crowd after to party.

KURT HOFFMAN

Host, Bear Pit room

I’m in charge of the Bear Pit, which will be hosted by me and London Bearfest. I will be bringing the Bear Pit some excellent cabaret acts: the Bearlesque star Dave the Bear, furry favourite dancers Ex DreamBears the newly formed The Transfats. Also we have Nigel Murfitt as the real Father Christmas, and the fiercest one of all is new alternative cabaret starlet, Baby Lame!

I’m really looking forward to the Bear Pit’s amazing DJ line-up with the legendary Done & Dusted, Ben Jamin and Ross Jones, Silverhook and Neil Evans. The Bears will be getting down to some seriously sick dance beats!

Tobacco Dock has to be seen to be believed! It’s really something very special and it’s an honour to be working on the Frost Festival with such an amazing team. See you all on the 15th!

CHRIS CAMLIN

DJ, East Bloc room

I have had a residency at Dalston Superstore and played gigs at Vogue Fabrics and Visions video bar, Hysteria. My festival appearances have included LoveBox, Secret Garden Party and Eastern Electrics with international gigs at Berlin, Madrid and Milan. I play underground house and techno. East Bloc is an underground melting pot of sexy men and great music – East London’s Crash.

IZZY TRIXX

DJ, Girls Arena

I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and raised in Singapore, a half- Indonesian half-Irish DJ who was classically trained in music. I’ve performed live with fellow producer and DJ Mr Hudson, and appeared in line-ups alongside Maya Jane Coles, Charlie XCX, MNEK and Neon Jungle. This year I have been touring across Europe (Germany, Poland, The Netherlands) and Asia, also playing at festivals (Frankfurt, Women of the World, Digital Analogue ), mega nightclubs (Scala London, X2 Jakarta)  and regularly for a number of London club nights across the scene including One Love, and Mint. You can also catch me playing at East Bloc on 29th November.

DJ MARK-ASHLEY DUPÉ

DJ, RnB room for Misfits

I’m really excited for this event! It was amazing in the summer and really proved that there is a huge section of the scene that live for R’n’B, hip-hop, dance hall and Afro beats. It’s very important that it’s included in festivals and Wayne Shires always does try to make sure it’s catered for.

What makes Misfits and Bootylicious such a good mix is that it joins south and north sides of the river, new and old with a nice blend of DJs both known and new. It might be a Frost Festival, but expect to leave hot and sweaty after we are finished with you!

DJ BIGGY C

DJ, RnB room for Bootylicious

One of my favourite Bootylicious memories is at the UK Black Pride after party when we had a load of French Boys over to experience the ‘Booty Vibe’. I remember my last tune of the night was Beyonce’s ‘Grown Woman’ and these guys proceeded to do the whole routine from the video, truly awesome. It’s on YouTube if you wanna see for yourself.
