HOMO-SEXUAL HEALING

A few well-known faces of the homoxual persuasion tell Lee Dalloway about their tales of love and lust…

ANTON HYSÉN

What’s the most romantic thing someone has done for you?

I’m still waiting for it to happen! I’ve never encountered it, so it should be nice when someone tries. As long as it isn’t too sleazy or cheesy. I’ve never gotten the chance to be romantic with a guy but I have my ideas so the next one will be very lucky [laughs].

Do you get a lot of interested guys coming up to you, or do you make the first move?

I’m a very shy guy when it comes to talking to lads when I’m out, so I believe that if someone is interested then they will make the first move. I do look at lads too much and sometimes that’s my way of getting some contact… Yes, I’m a loser! [Laughs].

We can think of plenty of guys who would put the moves on you! What does a guy have to do to impress you?

I love this question because it’s very easy to just pour it all out there. I personally think that I’d be impressed with a guy that can carry himself both physically and socially. Someone who can have his own thoughts who won’t agree with everyone else because of what people think. A real guy! A guy who really wants to show me that he appreciates me would be great.

JODIE HARSH

I’m not a cold-hearted bitch (honestly) but I’m not really a romantic. Valentine’s Day just doesn’t really do it for me. Maybe it’s because I’m utterly unlucky in love, or I’ve just had the crappest dates in existence. Or maybe it’s because my Mum always drops me off at the restaurant. Hmm…

HOLESTAR

Valentines’ is a load of old pony designed to make annoying couples ramp up the smug factor and singletons feel crap.
There are various variants but I decree February 15th to be International Singles Day! Treat yourself, throw a party, partake in some self-loving, whatever. I sound bitter but I’m in a five-year relationship. Yes, even oddities like me can find love!

DUSTY O

My nicest Valentine’s Day memory is when my boyfriend at the time bought me my little Chihuahua, Chica, who I adored. He arranged for a friend to drive us to Liverpool to collect her. Although I said I only wanted a white one, when we got there the only puppy they had was a little tan one. I was gutted, but she came running over and I fell in love. My fella only used to take home a couple of hundred pounds a week and Chica cost a fortune, so he really put out financially for me. The thing was, I fell in love with the puppy more than I did him and the love affair between Chica and me lasted much longer… However, we are still great friends and I will always love him for all the love and affection that came with her.

ANDREW HAYDEN-SMITH

My first boyfriend decided to fill my apartment with candles one Valentine’s Day. Although it was pretty romantic to arrive home to, the place was like a furnace!

MUNROE BERGDORF

My best Valentine’s would have to be a couple of years back when I was working at a fashion publicity agency. My then boyfriend sent a dozen, gorgeous red roses to my desk. I’d literally JUST got a promotion at the time and moved desks to sit next to my manager who wasn’t my biggest fan… The faces I got that day were PRICELESS. I’m all for the Hollywood style romantic gestures – low maintenance I ain’t!

ADAM TURNER

A boy off Gaydar described herself as having a “rugby build” and the pictures were looking good – right up my street. When she pitched up, “Rubgy Build” was an understatement – she was the size of a fucking house! I mean, we’re not talking a fat “prop” here; she could’ve taken on the England team on her own! Her pics were obviously from a few years ago and she’d clearly let herself go somewhat. I had a quick drink and made an early exit.

CHARLIE DRUMMOND

One Valentine’s Day a guy I was seeing posted a card through my door that said, ‘Do not open until 14th of February’. I opened it on Valentine’s Day and it said, “Will you be my Valentine?” and a map for me to follow. I followed it and I found a red rose and another map. This lead me to the restaurant I had always wanted to go to, and when I went inside, my ex was waiting with a red rose and a bottle of champagne. It was really lovely and I loved the fact he put so much thought into making me feel special.
