GET YOUR BLOC ON!

Blocheads is the night that’s caused a sexy, raunchy stir all over the East End clubbing scene, with its powerhouse musical geniuses on the decks, wicked atmosphere, hot boys and dancing till the sun comes shining up.

This Bank Holiday sees the night move into Aquarium, the only club in London with an indoor heated pool, where everything is about to get that notch sexier, slinkier and the boys more scantily clad! We spoke to man with the plan behind the night Tom Stephan to find out more…

What gave you the idea for Blocheads in the first place?
Wayne Shires told me about this amazing venue he found, and by the end of our coffee Blocheads was born! We’re both so happy with the parties we’ve done together at East Bloc, we thought the next step was BIGGER!

It seems to have become an institution on the East End clubbing scene, why do you think the formula is so successful?
I think Blocheads offers something a bit different. All I know about is what I like. I want a big dark room with a killer sound system, a hot sexy crowd where it’s ok to play a little Nitzer Ebb at 6am in the morning. Fortunately it looks like I’m not the only one!

Tell us some of your favourite memories of the nights you’ve held so far.
Starting a party is a nerve-wracking experience! You stand there wondering if anyone will show up! I was running around spray-painting go-gos, as you do, and someone had left the smoke machine on in the main room and completely fogged it up! I went it to shut it off – and as the smoke cleared I saw a room full of people bouncing up and down to Jonjo and thought ok – this is a fucking amazing party! Proper old school warehouse excitement!

What’s the typical Blocheads clubber like?
I’m not sure there’s a typical Blocheads clubber- all are welcome! But the music policy is decidedly alternative and sexy, and I think the crowd we get reflects that.

What DJs have you got lined up for the next Blocheads event at Aquarium? What will the music policy be?
We’re teaming up with Pagano and his night Hot 2 Trot for our next event. And we’ve got Blocheads resident Cathal, hot new DJ on the scene C_A_C, and Kris Di Angelis and myself in the main room. Joshyouare, Jacqui Potato, Jonbenet Blonde and Richard Mortimer will be bringing the madness in the lounge. And in the Deep house room we have Francesco Poggi, Gepy and Radu Christian.

We hear it’s got a swimming pool – sounds great! How will the clubbing/swimming mix work?
We’ve also got Kennedy Carter, Martin, Fer & Claudio- our super hot go-gos in Speedos! Who will be searching out the hottest boys, pulling off their clothes and throwing them in the pool! (I wonder if I’m allowed to say that??)

And finally, any other wicked plans up your sleeve for the big night on Sunday?!
We set the stage, we bring the beats, now the wickedness is up to you!
