KAT’S GOT THE CREAM!

This Friday, one of our favourite DJ groups will be taking over one of our favourite Clapham clubs. Enter The Freemasons at The Two Brewers! We’ve been fans of the Freemasons from day dot, and while we’re ‘Watchin’’ them perform massive hits such as ‘Love On My Mind’, they certainly won’t be ‘Uninvited’. Alongside them is a woman they’ve got plenty of love for, Katherine Ellis. We grabbed her for a quick chat in the run-up to their performance…

We recently saw you perform at Clapham Street Party to a great reception. How was that?

I loved it and also Craig (the organiser), who was so organised and hospitable, he was lovely to me, my husband Max, my children and my friends who came down. I was delighted to meet Lonnie Gordon and Jackie Graham and hear them both sing and I got to perform a couple of songs with them and all the other performers for the finale which was brilliant. It was also fabulous to meet Sonique at last! I always enjoy big events where I can socialise with other artists.

Where’s been the wildest place you’ve performed?

I’m lucky to have been to some incredible places: could the wildest place be a beach in Alexandria Egypt? A converted oil platform in Sochi Russia?  At the Grand Prix Monaco under the stars?  Or by the ocean in tropical Bali with two men fanning me with giant banana leaves?

What one song from other another artist do you wish you could have sang originally?

‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S, such a classic track with a great message and vocal range in the melody as well as brilliant production.

Are you excited to be back on stage with the Freemasons this Friday?

Yes I am! I always love performing with them, they have become great friends over the years, I also always enjoy listening (and dancing) to their sets.

What can our readers expect by heading down?

A great night of course!  I will be performing the extended club mix of Tears for the first time in the world, so far I have only performed a four-minute version but on the 19th It will be over seven minutes!
