The Trade Of All Ages!

Following the enormous success of their last party, Trade are back at Christmas at multi-roomed venue The Egg in King’s Cross. There’ll be a host of amazing DJs musically split across four different rooms with four different soundscapes, respecting both the history of Trade’s musical heritage and looking to the future of what Trade is about. We decided to catch up with a good number of those DJs to tell us about their best Trade experience, what to expect from the Christmas party and their Top 3 Tracks they’ll
be playing on the night!

BK (BK & Andy Farley Back 2 Back)

‘The last Trade birthday in November for me was simply amazing. I have played at many Trade birthdays and this was on a par with, if not better than, them. The Egg is an amazing venue and the perfect choice for Trade. What was great was seeing a mixture of original Trade babies and fresh new crowd having their first Trade experience. It really felt like a new chapter in Trade’s history.’

TOP 3 TRACKS

1. Bk & Sam Townend “Drop to Your Knees”

Made especially to play at the Christmas Trade . Upfront chunky funky Hardhouse .

2. Sub CRT “Toe Jam”

Again this is chunky and funky and a great mixing tool. Went down a treat at Trade’s birthday.

3. Lucy Fur “Hit the Floor”

Been playing this all year and has to be my favourite track of 2013: hard and fun all at the same time.

SEVERINO

‘My first Trade experience was probably in 1999 after two years when I arrived in London from Italy. It was fun, I was more into Trade-lite music… That’s the kind of music I was playing already. Trade at Xmas is gonna be FUN. I heard the last one was great! Bring it on festive times!’

TOP 3 TRACKS

1. Shiba Shan – ‘Westside Connection’ (Sirus Hood rmx)

2. Joshua Jamers – ‘Jealous Lovers’

3. Clik Clik and Dj Glen – ‘Road House’

THEMENWHOFELL2EARTH

‘The Trade birthday in November was special and bonkers. Special ‘cos it had the friendliest vibe we’ve seen in a club for an age and bonkers ‘cause witnessing a jam-packed Egg going quite mental before actual tea-time on a Saturday evening required quite an adjustment of the senses.’

 TOP 3 TRACKS

1: ‘Let Love Ruin’ (Leo Zero Remix) : Josh Caffe & David Newtron [Batty Bass]

This is high on hi-hats and enslaved to a ‘must obey’ hook. Mr Zero adds just the right amount – part acid, part disco, part vogue.

2: ‘Gwad Bwash’ (Tuff City Kids Remix) : Future Four [Phantasy]

Don’t let the innocent, groovy, rolling piano intro fool you. Just when you’re least expecting it, this detonates and explodes into a full on swarming rave beast that’s been lapped up on our floors recently.

3: ‘John Broadwood’ : LUMA [Optimo Trax]

As the track demands: “Sing a song of happiness, on and on and on.”

PAGANO

‘The Trade birthday event last month was really off the hook. Just what London needed. The Christmas party already promises to be another spectacular event. The room I am playing in is Trade Modern which represents the more contemporary and cutting-edge sound of Trade and for me it is all about playing modern underground music that has that Trade edge. I can’t wait to drop some of my recent and forthcoming releases starting with some sexy Techouse grooves and going on to build the excitement into more pumping Techno beats. Trade babies certainly know what I mean by that!’

TOP 3 TRACKS

1) Pagano – Everybody Hip Housin (1605)

UMEK opened his DJ set at Electric Daisy Carnival Festival in Orlando with this one and went on to sign it to his label 1605 for an early 2014 release.

2) Pagano – Breaking Bad (Deeperfect)

Played by Carl Cox and Rogers Sanchez in their radio shows, this has been a staple in my DJ set for nearly a year now.

3) Pagano & Reza – Sunkissed (Hotfingers)

Manuel De La Mare remix of this African chant-sampling tune has been in the Beatport House Top 10 sales chart for more than a month.
