Eagle London celebrates a Decade of Love this weekend to mark ten years of butch blokes, burly bears, big wigs, tough twinks and more. It’s gonna be bedlam!

My favourite Eagle moment was Horse Meat Disco August Bank Holiday 2006 when we had 1,300 people through the door over a 12 hour marathon and I remember looking at Paul Wilde, Jim Stanton and James Hillard and thinking the Eagle has landed!

What started as a part time bar job seven years ago quickly became my whole world. I fell in love with Eagle London and it’s taken me on quite a journey. It’s not a traditional Eagle bar and it’s what makes the venue so special. Yes, we cater to the cruisey ‘men only’ sex crowd, but then we also host a plethora of nights for T-girls, pop kids, lesbians, live performance, bears, music aficionados and more. I have too many special memories from my years here, truly legendary Horse Meats, dealing with the police (on a routine visit) dressed as a rather heavy and hirsute Kylie Minogue for Carpet Burn, the Milk in the Park festival, the unmentionable delights of R18, but most of all working with such a great team! Here’s to another 10 years!
Tim Jones – Tonker
OMG! March 2008 and Tonker Gold, where we had a bevy of porn stars, a Kylie lookey-likey on stage with Ab Fab around the bar and a road block from 11pm to get in. Plus, we were the first club to have Danny Rampling, Andy Bell and Joey Negro DJ for us in Vauxhall – always fun and cutting edge at Tonker!
James Hillard – Horse Meat Disco
Eagle London is family. Pure and simple. The fact we’ve been going strong there for a decade is proof of that. It’s like going home for Christmas every Sunday! Happy birthday Eagle London and thanks for your constant support over the years!

Luke Howard – Horse Meat Disco DJ
There have been a lot of amazing Horse Meat moments that bring a smile to my face, but one very special memory for me was at Deep Inside (a night Simon and I used to do) when I celebrated my 40th birthday. The place was packed full of friends and faces old and new from my 25 years in the business. The Parasio School of Samba took over the dance floor with their brilliant bateria drummers and dancers tearing the roof off the place and leaving me an emotional mess. Thank you to all at Eagle for all the love!
Walt Utz – Trannyshack Promoter
Trannyshack & Stunners 2 at Eagle has been such a hoot. One of my favourite moments was when Miss Dusty O wore a spectacular black sequin sparkling dress. In the middle of a conversation she realised she had become entangled in the camouflage drapes of the ’T-girl dark room’. Cue lots of frantic struggling to break free with an army of helpers trying to ‘detach’ her, turning a blind eye to the action going down behind the curtains.
Dusty O – Trannyshack Host
Trannyshack at The Eagle is our “saucy Saturday sista”. For me, one of the highlights was when Stunners joined the equation. The first night (and all of them since) saw a really crazy, up for it and eclectic crowd of drag, trannys, fetish queens and pretty much everyone else all getting down together on the dance floor and in the play rooms. It was the most “inclusive” type of night I had ever seen. It could not have happened anywhere other than at Eagle as they have a truly progressive and welcoming customer policy, and theme nights for everyone.
• The Eagle London 10th Birthday kicks off with Tonker on Friday 14th, continues with the main party on Saturday 15th and then climaxes with Horse Meat Disco on Sunday 16th February. Eagle is at 349 Kennington Lane, Vauxhall, SE11 5QY.
