Yes, it’s that time when we peruse the year that’s about to end – or perhaps I should say the decade – and remember the highlights and start thinking about 2020, hopefully with a degree of anticipation!
What do you think we’ll remember this decade for? Could it be the dawn of the gay rave going to another level? This year Adonis and Chapter 10 ruled!
Or will we be all talking about the drag queens and kings who have challenged gender boundaries, both in the mainstream and on the underground cabaret scenes such as The Glory and the RVT? Plus the many new hotspots popping up.
Will we be marvelling at ingenious nights like Inferno and Monster Queen? Or shall we be sashaying to the long running disco vibes at Horse Meat Disco? Whatever got you going, let’s push through to a fun-filled and inspiring decade ahead!
This weekend, we’re getting ready for the annual lock down! Haha, well The Glory is gearing up for a myriad of festive themed shows and events, starting with Baby Lame’s Shit Show on Thursday 19th December. Catch Sèayoncè’s Christmas Carol on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st. Special guests include Kate Butch, Evie Fehilly and remember The Glory stays open till late with TROUBLE on Friday starring Soroya Marchelle and Barbs. DJs Jon Arnold and Dance Armstrong! I’ll be DJing with Chaka Khan’t and Mike Menace at The Glory’s Christmas Bauble on Saturday 21st, hosted by John Sizzle with shows from Margo Marshall and JonBenet Blonde.
Get down to the obligatory festive Vodka Luge from 9pm till 3am!!! Omg! It’s all carrying on with Good Judy – Christmas special with ShayShay as Judy Garland, Margo Marshall as Liza, Grace Shush as Brabra Streisand on Sunday 22nd, show time 7pm. And don’t forget it’s my Princess Julia Loves also this Sunday 22nd – it’s A Christmas Blow Out with special guests Bolly Illusion and Anita Piss! On ‘til 2am!
Quick break and we’re back! Saturday 28th December head up to Femme Fraiche with DJs galore – Jaye Ward and Ornography headline, resident Michelle Manetti, Linzi Symonds and Darren Skene up and down. Gogo’s Juniper and Naomi Wood! 9pm-3am.
MEAT is doing a Sunday this week 29th December at Dalston Superstore. It’s the end of a decade freebie with the Meat boys and special guest DJ Jonjo Jury. 9pm – 2:30!
Now we’re gearing up for New Year’s Eve, blooming heck there’s loads on! From Sink The Pink Y2K (with special guest Samantha Mumba!) at the Troxy to Mariah & Friendz: New Year’s at The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Bottom Heavy NYE at Dalston Superstore with Dan Beaumont, Wes Baggeley plus Grace Sands in the basement and in the bar, Fannar, me and KKINGBOO. 9pm-5am! And that’s just the beginning!
