If you’re a Londoner, you’ve probably been there. If you’ve been a tourist here you may even have walked past it, but Halfway II Heaven is a deceptively fabulous little place just off Trafalgar Square in Duncannon Street opposite St Martin In The Fields church!

Now from the outside, with it’s dark wooden interior, it may at first glance look like your typical little London pub, and it’s a very nice place to have a relaxing beer or glass of vino in the daytimes. But it harbours a little secret, because at night, the glitter covered basement comes alive!!

There’s a lot of drag history here! Crystal D’Canter and Kelly Mild held CK Sundays here for 16 and a half years (the longest residency in London I do believe) up until last month as Crystal has retired to take on a new challenge. Fear not though, Kelly ain’t going anywhere and at the time of writing the new look Sundays were still to be announced!

Bette Rinse has been running her It’s a knockout talent competitions from here for years releasing some lovely acts on to the scene!

On a personal note, it’s the venue I represented when I won Drag Idol 11 years ago and it was my first gig after my win and my first residency 10 years ago – and I’m proud to still be a resident here!

What’s lovely about the cabaret here is that you’ll see a platform for new and emerging performers, seasoned acts holding court at their popular residencies and some top class entertainment booked to perform for you all throughout the week!! You’ll regularly catch Miss Moppe, Mrs Moore, Miss Penny, Lola, Woe Adams, Miles Elliot, Lola Lasagna, Sandra, The Duchess, Ember, Kelly Mild, Rose Garden and many many more gracing the stage in the pink sparkly fabulousness of the cabaret bar basement!

And there’s a genuine family feel here! It doesn’t take too many trips here for you to feel like one of the gang, and the regulars are treated like friends and chums because this is one of those places that magnifies the community feel, and that is a huge part of its charm. Maybe I’m biased, but if that weren’t true, you wouldn’t see so many people coming again and again and again. And I’ve seen newcomers becoming part of the magic over and over!

And when there’s an event on, or a charity to be helped – few places do it like Halfway! It’s a special little place – why not come and find out why for yourself.
