12/11/16: West 5 was the place to be on Saturday night for fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The evening began with our host Carmen Dioxide belting out a few numbers
before bringing on the first of the evening’s main shows – Shangela (RuPaul’s Drag Race Seasons 2 & 3). Shangela whipped the crowd into a frenzy from the start with her trademark “halleloo” and then with songs including her reworking of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk – Uptown Fish.
The final performer of the night was Katherine Ellis (Ruff Driverz,
Freemasons, 7th Heaven), kicking off by making us feel old – reprising
her 1998 hit “Dreaming”, then bringing us more up-to-date with her title
song from the 2013 film Gravity and the 2008 hit with the Freemasons
“When You Touch Me”. Daniel and the team all ensured the evening went without a hitch behind the bar and DJ Gary Chapman was on the decks doing the same for the dancefloor.Where did the time go? I swear I only just got here!
