The last weekend of January, blimey already, I hear you say… We’re all gung ho with lot’s of things to go to over this way.

 


Let’s start off at Arthole presents: self-memory-system by artist Emma Rudge up a Dalston Superstore where they’re known for great nights and great art shows of which this is one. Starts on Wednesday 27th January so if you think you’re going to a bar come restaurant come disco then think again.

Naked Boys Reading is back on Thursday 28th at the Ace Hotel at 7.30pm start time. Curator Matthew Smith takes a look at author Angela Carter and selects appropriate texts to tickle your fancy. nakedboysreading.com

Over at Bloc Bar catch Ruby Wednesday’s Alternative Takeover:Part II on Thursday 28th. Ruby DJ’s and welcomes a showcase of alternative cabaret stars to the stage from 8pm till 2am. Lovely! Then if you’re feeling Sassy then Sassutude Vol V: The Sass Awakens is for you up at Vogue Fabrics on Friday 29th. Join queen of sass Emily Rose England and her glamazons Harriet Scott and Angelica Bryant for the tunage from 10pm till the end!

Lobotomy Room at Fontaine’s is a ‘punkabilly booze party’ where you’ll hear an inspired soundtrack of John Waters faves and The Cramps at their finest, plus all the bits in between. Fontaine’s is at 176 Stoke Newington Road, 10pm till 1am, 29th January and it’s hosted by Graham Russell (Dr. Sketchy & Cockabilly) free to get in.

Mix unabated humour and a dash of camp controversy and you’ve got The Sex Shells January Comedy Show on saturday 30th at The Glory this weekend. Get yer spirits lifted and take your seat at 8pm prompt for a show time you’ll never forget! And while I’m here Happy Birthday The Glory who celebrated 1 year of fabulous pub and performance action last week!

The boys at Brüt #15 tell me they’re up for another one on Saturday 30th, joining forces with Barcelona Bear Pride in the 2 vaults of 13-16 All hallows Lane, EC4R. Bouncy tunes from Ross Jones, Louis Lennon, Deejay Morlex, DJ Dreadful, Ben Jamin and Silverhook. 10pm-6am.

At East Bloc Babez is ‘bringing pop back to the Bloc’, join DJ’s UN-Lucky Bitches, Dom Top and Tom Aspaul and the delightful Lady Lloyd in the backroom… DJing. 11pm til 6am.

One last one before I go, Debbie does The Shacklewell Arms. Join the female fronted indie electro dance party brought to you by Sina Sparrow and Bitchcakes in the fabu back room of this cute pub on 71 Shacklewell Road. Really good fun!
